Dover Beacon Project, Dover Town Centre

In July 2024, Dover District Council approved multi-million plans for the Dover Beacon Project, a new business arts and education hub for the town. East Kent Colleges (EKC) Group will occupy a space at the hub and provide training and skills in the creative and digital industries. This project is funded by UK Government’s Levelling Up Funding.

Sheerness Revival Project

In February 2024, EKC Group unveiled plans for a multi-million extension of EKC Sheppey College as part of the Sheerness Revival Project. A newly developed curriculum will focus on creative, engineering and logistics courses. This project is funded by UK Government’s Levelling Up Funding.

Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury

In October 2023, the award-winning Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury and EKC Group announced a formal partnership to make Kent a national leader in vocational training in the performing arts for Further Education students. Find out more about the partnership.

Green Engineering Centres at Ashford and Canterbury

In March 2023, EKC Group launched the first of two new engineering centres in Canterbury aimed at helping businesses to transition to a net zero world. Equipped with the latest robotic technology, the site also includes a mechatronic lab. A second centre opened at Ashford later that year. Both were supported by central government funding.

Margate Digital

In January 2023, EKC Group was awarded funds to set up a new digital college in a vacant former retail building. The £6 million project, supported by the Levelling Up Fund, will offer a range of digital courses, including specialised qualifications in animation and illustration, TV and film production, app and web design, programming and coding.

Higher Technical Qualifications

In September 2021, £200,000 of government funding was secured to deliver new Higher Technical Qualifications at Level 4 and 5 across East Kent targeting key areas of the UK economy, including digital, construction, health and science. The funding comes from the government’s £18 million Higher Technical Education Growth Fund.
